i used to argue about his policy, his methods, his views, his visions, his outspoken policies, with my father.
i used to admire his bravery, his nobelity, his attitude.
he used to be the one i looked up. his contribution to the nation was countless. he helped to put malaysia on the world map.
he aspired mega projects. he aspired in making malaysia a modern country.
he championed the malay rights. he championed malaysia rights. he still championing them.
for all your contributions to malaysia during your past tenure as the prime minister of malaysia, i thank you. for providing equal opportunities for all malaysian, i am grateful for your actions. for aspiring malaysian to achieve the unthinkable, i am awed by your spirit. for giving hope that we are indeed capable of competing on the same level with industrialised nation, i thank you million thanks. for your outspoken in saying whatever it is in your mind, you inspired me to be brave and bold in making stands.
but Tun,
to publicly attack current government, people who you groomed to replace you when the time is ripe, slowly diminishing your place as the one whom i admired.
we never questioned your decisions in creating the path to year 2020. we never questioned your authority. in fact, we stood behind your back, gave all of our support you needed during 1997 asean economic crisis. your methods are unorthodox, but we have faith in you. you encouraged us to spend when our neighbours in asean faced with economic problems seemed way too outrageous. but we believed in you. we spent. and Alhamdulillah, your measures proven to be successful.
now, you directly attacking pak lah, questioning his capabilities, his motives and his methods.
yes, you were upset with the fact that most of mega projects that is to be executed under your tenureship was cancelled by pak lah's administration.
but there are reasons. not because pak lah wanted to give the projects to his cronies, nor that he wanted to destroy your capabilities. as pak lah pointed out, the government was facing high deficit, and malaysia had to solve that problem first.
now, almost rm15 billion is to be spent for projects in malaysia.
you alleged him for practising cronisme. do you still remember tun, when people questioned the cronisme and nespotism being allegedly practiced in umno? in fact, they even questioned your children's business activities?
if attention is all what you want, fine. we will give attention. we will even put you in the spotlight. you will be the media darling.
but please tun. we know that you have the knowledge of everytday's activities and happenings inside prime minister's office, having spending 2 decades in power. we understand that you need to express your concerns, your objections, and your disappointment. but please, never try to discredit pak lah's credibility and capability to rule the nation.
you stand side by side with tengku mahaleel on the proton's issue. that's fine. everybody knows that mahaleel is one of your prodigy. you are indeed angry when proton decided to sell augusta mv at the price of one euro per share. we understand your concerns. and we gained more understanding on this issue when current proton management issued press statement on why they sold augusta mv. and it seems fair to us. why should we even bother to continue investing in a company that is making losses year by year?
you mentioned that petronas is one of the culprit in ensuring us dollar is the main choice of currency, because they trade in us dollar. and yet you are the adviser.
you were my idol, tun. i respect you for what you have contributed to the nation, to the bangsa.
but now. ashamed? that word is too harsh.
let just say that i will only remember you for all your contribution when you were in power. not when you left your position.

ahh very well spoken amil.. Yknow i felt the same way. Kinda felt he could have done better than to condemn our PM publicly. But then, isn't this what we want? For the government to be transparent with us? One good thing about all these is that everything is laid out open on the table.
He may seem like he's an old retired man, suffering through post ministerial syndrome (which he maybe does), but this is the same man who brought malaysia up and nurtured her for 22 years. He loves Malaysia and I understand why he could get so upset seeing all the plans he laid out beforehand being cancelled. Perhaps the explanation he got wasn't good enough, perhaps the government wasn't being transparent enough with the rakyat. And i believe this is the other reason why he's so out there. And we all know that's just how he is. And plus, being the ex PM and having all the background that makes it even more easier for him to be heard. If it was us venting out frustration on the governemnt, the talks would have just remained in the kedai kopi..
But having said that, it is rather risky and absurd to be causing a dispute between the 2 of the most powerful people in Malaysia. He just shook the roots of Malaysia itself.
Eh gile panjang.. sorry amil. Dah lama tak tulis blog.. haha.
hurmm..i agree with your point on the need to have somebody who is outspoken enough to check on the government's transparency.
another +ve points there.
thanks for at least brightening me up. now at least i can bring myself to attend to his talks and perhaps shake his hands time convocation nanti.
now i kinda miss his voice in expressing the world's unfair and double-standard practices.
i agree with azalia...well, in the first place, its not easy to be the prime minister. tun was at the helm for 22 years, i'm sure he knows all the tricks in the bag, maybe he even created some. he definitely knows whats going on and just doesn't like the way the government handled it. i dont know, but maybe a little ruffle amongst the cabinet members will be a good thing. atleast some will wakeup and start serving the country the right way.
Politics is downright dirty and it will never change. once you get involved, it just sucks you in, deeper and deeper. LETS CHARGE IN AND MAKE IT A LITTLE LESS DIRTY ! hehe.
bet, mari join putera umno...
