last minute again

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Registration Department’s nightmare has come true – it was a mad rush at all its offices throughout the country.

Thousands of Malaysians lined up outside its offices in a last minute effort to apply for their MyKad.

With the deadline expiring tomorrow, the crowds came as early as 5am at the Petaling Jaya NRD office and the queue stretched for about a kilometre along Jalan Sultan, while in Penang they were there before 7am.

Despite having three years to do so, these procrastinators jammed up the offices, and in some cases gave the overworked NRD staff a harrowing time.

At the Kepong NRD branch, a group vented their frustration at not being able to get a number for the day by hurling abuses at the officers.

However, the officers kept their cool and advised them to go to other offices where queues were shorter.

In a related development, Public Services Department director-general Datuk Seri Ismail Adam advised the counter staff not to be rude or pull a long face although it was the people's fault.

“Civil servants should understand by now that Malaysians always like to do things at the last minute,” he told reporters in Putrajaya.

typical malaysian :)

i love to debate. debate as if arguing over things in such a healthy manner and way. debating over subjects, ranging from intellectual things right to no-nonsense subjects, is FUN! it's good to be able to debate, as by doing so i believe i am sharpening my reasoning and explaining skills. not to mention my "auta" or "white" lying skills hehe. like for example, when people discuss about the reasons why Malaysians prefer to do things last minute, i usually try to be the devil's advocate. look at the same subject, but from totally different perspective. i mean, at least somebody should think differently, rite?

when people around me are thinking positively, i prefer to think pessimistly (not negatively) most of the time people get me wrong. they think as if i am such a negative thinker. but thru my experiences, it is safe to have someone to think of the worst case scenarios. ask cheepoi. i debated with him throughout the semester on things from lectures to events in UTP.

so, why do Malaysians prefer to do things last minute?

some pictures from PD trip

actorlympics

in the past weeks, thanks to Nana, my interest in Art and Performance has been ignited, once again. those knowing me would know of how much i enjoyed seeing cultural performances. then again, most people would be surprised to learn the fact that i am an Art lover.

anyway, this coming Friday (30th September), am going to watch Actrolympics together with my close friends and girlfriends :)

am looking forward for the show, i have high expectation from it (i expect to have a jolly good laugh that night), and obviously i am going to enjoy that night.

parking ticket

peeps, bare with me. i am about to vent my anger here.

went out to A&W in front of Amcorp Mall, the one yang next to Taman Jaya LRT station. the time is about 9.30pm. the parking lot was full. since my friends and i were so wanting to eat waffle and drank some root beer at that A&W, i decided to park my car along the road. there were lots of cars that parked by the roadside.

around 10.30pm, when we finished having our supper-cum-dessert, went back to the car. and SURPRISE!! a parking ticket was there at the windshield. for goodness sake, it was at NIGHT!! before this, no traffic enforcer did that, and now? why is the sudden change of how they work?

hello? there was no more parking space! only the one that will cost you rm3 per entry. or izzit rm5? be considerate laaa...i know i am violating the traffic rules, but at least, be considerable laa..am i suppose to pay extra rm5 just to have a sip of the famous A&W root beer?

the law is broken, and you have to pay the consequences. but why today? why today, when i've been good for the whole day? i suppose this entry and the prized parking ticket will ensure my name to be put under "BAD" namelists. *sigh*

this is sooooo not good for my health....

review on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

this is how book-turned-to-movie adaptation should be. several scenes added to add extra knowledge about the characters, with no changes and staying true to the story flows and sequences. unlike Harry Potter's movies, or also the LOTR trilogies, this movie is the real adaptation of the book. (minus the Christianity preaching)

the main plot: 4 siblings; 2 sons of adam and 2 daughters of eve; found themselves in a different world. in a place called Narnia. there, they are to fulfill a prophecy. when sons of adam and daughters of eve come into Narnia, the world shall be free from the evil Witch clutches. not forgetting, they are to get help from the great lion himself. the emperor of lone isles, son of the king over the sea: aslan.

already being flooded with orcs, dragons, elves, sorceries and magiks, thanks to LOTR and Harry Potter movies, most people would say that "bahh, once you've seen them in two or three movies, you've seen them all".."Narnia looks like another LOTR movies..with all that orcs and battles"

my advice: ignore them. watching Narnia is a different experience altogether. It's not like LOTR revisited, and not even close to Harry Potter.

Narnia is a good movie, as there are some flaws. (which movie doesn't?)

Go watch it, and have a wonderful time.

p/s: it is best to bring along your bf/gf and watch this movie together. this movie sure has some "feel good" feeling. :)

proof of murphy's law

i don't know what is wrong with my blog-site.

spent hours to make my sidebar re-appear again...changed the templates, played around with the codes, even tried to re-design using different web-browser.

i have no idea why my page is not what it suppose to be. the sidebar is gone. it's there in the code, but i guess the compiler does not reaches the line. or. blogger is crazy. or people at blogger.com felt threatend with my entries, they decided to tamper with my interface. who knows?

so here i am. writing with big fonts, just to express my anger and frustration.

i just want to blog....

sound of music

have i told you before how i love to hear the sound of music? i mean, the tunes played by piano, violins, guitars, percussions, flute or even trumpet? accompanied by harmonious vocal, now that is what i call real music.

went to a x'mas carol n choir performance at KL Performance Art Centre, a show fully sponsored by YTL in celebration of their fiftieth anniversary.

and tonite, i'm going for the orchestra show. wit my lovely frens, again..

as for what happened to my blog page, i have no idea what caused it. suddenly my taggie board is nowhere to be seen. all my links are lost. perhaps this is a call for me to revamp back the whole page? spring cleaning? hehehe

do drop me any ideas or suggestions as what theme should i use, what layout should this page be, so that i could customize it to make it more "beautiful"

does size really matters?

parental advisory: content of the blog might not be suitable for underaged and narrow-minded readers. may content several sexual references

does size really matters? in today not-so-real world, women wants to have large breasts, and men wishes to have large penis. why can't we be content with what God has given us? enuff with this artificial things and wishes.

some might argue: larger breasts/penis give boost to man/woman's self satisfaction on their body. it also gives them confidence to be out there in the public.

me say: those people need to meet their psychatrist! not plastic surgeon ;| all this self-satisfaction is being projected by pornographic feel-good propaganda ..hurmm... ;p

so, enuff with this mine-is bigger-than-thou-so-i-am-better-than-you thing! am getting sick and tired when hearing people says "i should have bigger breasts/penis" or "i am ashamed for having small breasts/penis" kind of talk.

does size really matters?

author's note: i don't know what triggers me to write an entry like this. it just came out, popped out of my head, like a flashing lightbulb used by Thomas Edison ;p

PD - revisited

wut is the better way to spend your weekend than having it with your loved ones?

the suspects: Syeena, Lan, Alia, Apis, Nodi, Wan, Bai n yours truly.

the we-want-to-go-to-Penang trip was cancelled, when the party decided to hold an election in deciding which place should it be for the upcoming road-trip. the choice: Penang vs PD. and after lengthy discussions and voting, it was clearly shown that majority wanted to go PD.

what we did at PD? other than the normal go-and-swim-at-the-beach-and-pool and let's-eat-seafood, most of the time we just stayed inside the apartment. it was too hot to be out there (hurmm....)

to be with my lovely friends, made me to temporarily forget some of my worries (read: Final Year Project)..even nodi couldn't focus on her so-called revising-for-test. the cameras and companies distracted her way too much than the notes huhu

Alia is now a-mobile-songs-provider (read: a proud owner of an i-Pod), Lan is reading a novel(it is hard to find him reading any novel), Nodi is back for good, Syeena will commence her studies end of this year, Bai is available until February, Apis is now loves to spend his time practising his "pancing" skill, Wan and me are practising kung-fu in pool and might be training for the next male-swimmer-synchroniser competition..hehe

buh, humbug!

i might have say this lotsa time before, but who cares? hehe..i love my best-friends :)

the future is bleak..

or so it seems. i am stuck with my Final Year Project. One semester went passing-by, and all final year students at least have clear picture on what will be their Final Year Project. but me? noooo..i am stuck in the middle of nowhere. lost without any survival instinct.

started past semester with a hope: to acquire knowledge on the complicated world of network. and so, i chose "VPN in mobile environment" as my project title. at the end of the semester: i found myself lying hopeless. during project presentation last week, the evaluators told me: "we cannot see what is your final outcome" and "this semester there should be no research based project". too bad..since i spent all semester long to grasp the basic knowledge on this thing called mVPN.

and now, here i am. undecided on what should i do. should i continue? or should i start all over again? other ideas that came into my mind is to develop a remote monitoring application.but..(there is always a but when you are 'bet') i HATE programming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! argghhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

things you hate most are things you cannot live without.

on positive notes: i am going to spend my weekends away from KL~~ ;p

life in tronoh~

2006 will be my 7th year studying in Perak. and the great truth hit me right in the face last weekend.

it is a hard-concrete fact. Cost of living in Perak here is waaayyy lower than life in KL. it's true. after years of living in denial and arrogance, I have to admit that it's true.

just imagine: a can of 100 plus in KL nowadays cost us rm1.60. while in Perak it is still around rm1.40. 150ml Coke bottle has a tag-price of rm2.20 in KL, and in Perak you can get the same thing for only rm1.80.

i'm a bit fussy here when talking about food price hehehe

p/s: can't wait to makan nasi lemak at Anggerik USJ 2 in near future...

after a long pause...

bloggers never dies..they just paused for a while..

since i started my current semester's with some entries, i might as well close this near-ended semester with an entry or two..

i paused blogging for months because Internet connection here at UTP is not something to be proud of. i even considered myself lucky today, to be able to access my blog-page this early morning, as for some unknown reasons, i cannot access blogspot from my hostel. some might told me to be thankful for the availability of Internet access inside campus, but what good is this Internet connection if you are unable to be connected to anywhere in the World Wide Web? had to live with dissatisfaction throughout the semester..but am learning to accept the flaw of this so called advance campus network system.

my last final paper is today, at 2.30pm..now the time is 7.00am...stayed up the whole night long, burning midnight oil just because i am applying the "last minute" studying concept. it turned out to be that i can easily absorbed the info much better when i am in great need..in this case, am cramping everything to be dumped during the finals.

my aussie gurlfrens are home..well, most of them...still waiting for another one to be back home..am excited enough to think about what we will do together once everybody in my clique is back from oversea. currently is planning to go to Penang for our road trip. why Penang? perhaps...the beaches and food? yummy~

guess i'll be actively blogging after this..
and this is just because i started to blog after a long pause..

what i did last weekend~~

Cuti-cuti RC July 2005

it was an escapade longed by most of us..most of us need to take a break from the hectic life..all the piling assignments, the over-worked mind, the overloaded capacity of thinking and studying...and most importantly, the pressure on our Final Year Project papers.

the real purpose of Cuti-cuti RC is for the RCSU members to have fun together in an environment outside UTP. RCSU is basically a volunteerary body that helps the Residential College management in managing and maintaining students' welfare in their respective hostels, or also known as Residential Colleges.

but for us, Final Year students, it was an escapade that we really need~

the trip from UTP to Pangkor took us around 1hour 30 minutes. We stayed at NipahMas challet, which is a good place to stay. the rooms there are equipped with two beds that can be occupied by two person per bed; an air-conditioning system; and bathroom complete with water-heater. after lunch, took a short nap..which is basically one-hour long :) and the girls? they went for souvenirs shopping spree.
around 2.45pm, most of the boys retreated to the nearest beach, while the girls went back to their rooms for their lovely afternoon nap.

the boys, hereby mentioned as we, started to berendam all evening. from 2.45pm until the dawn started to settle down. throughout the berendam session, we managed to ride banana boat, kayaking and had bowls of refreshing ABCs :)

while the girls, later in the evening, had their jet skis ride..what pissed most of the boys was that the girls were accompanied by "abang" in-charge of the jet-ski while riding that thing..basically, "ada abang teman derang naik jet-ski laaa"..hehehe

then, we had a sand-castle building competition..our castles were assaulted by the "tidal" waves ("time tu air tgh pasang"), plus physical attacks by other group members..then, each group was assigned to create an animal representation using the beach sands. the animals were: elephants, snakes, squids, jaws, and a hybrid of cockroach+ant..

that night, we had a bbq session...i intentionally decided not to help the juniors..hehe..i came all the way from UTP to enjoy myself..hehehe
after dinner, "Abg" Poji taught us new games, called "botol", "chap kalicap kalicap chap chap" and "gorgon!" (more on this in coming blogs)

Sunday..we were supposed to have a snorkelling session..woke up and got ready at the beach by 7.20am..had a quick dip in the sea that morning, when suddenly the waves were getting bigger, and the wind was blowing harder..it was the sign of bad weather..

cancelled the plan to snorkel, instead had our breakfast at the stall at the beach..unforgettable moments: was having our breakfast (nasi lemak), when "hujan pon turun, and tempias air hujan masuk ke nasi lemak..kiranya pagi tu makan nasi lemak berkuah..hoho" and btw, a girl-friend of mine, gave us a rare opportunity not to be missed.."muka awek comel yg rambutnya serabai and mengerbang ditiup angin" hehehe

when the rain stopped, some of us went back to the beach. the sea was very inviting. so, we went into the water, and played along with the waves..and we called ourselves "pemecah ombak", or wave breaker..."kiterang mandi pon kat tepi pantai je..kira cam main ombak jugak laa"...the waves made us rolled onto the beach, while some of us even had to perform summersaults, when we were pushed by the waves to the beach..

while we were having fun, came a big wave..when we were brought to the beach by the wave, came another 2 waves continuously "pounding" the beach..had a sensational feeling while in the waves..
when everything cleared (at least for me), somebody shouted to me, "adik, kawan tu dik!"..at first, i was like,"ni pesal plak nih?"..then a young man shouted, "dik, ambik kawan kat belakang tu!"..i turned around, and saw a friend of mine stood helplessly in the water..her face expression showed that she is near to crying and panic. ran to her, grabbed her and brought her to the beach..she was truly shocked, because when i grabbed her hand, she did not give any reaction.

luckily, nothing happened to us that day..and for that, i truly feel grateful to ALLAH.."mmg bersyukur sgt2" unfortunately, she's already taken..hehehe

and now, i am longing to go back to Pangkor...perhaps one day when life seems to be so cruel to me, i should go there to relieve my stress...

bET is riding the ombak~~
