started this year with a bang (and a couple of fireworks), and the best way to end this hectic year is to just curl up inside the warm blanket, rolling on the bed, and pondering outside the room with glittering stars and full moon at the outside.

afternoon with Abuya: zakat and corporation
someone posed this question to the President during Q&A session during President Policy Address function.
Q: Why is the Company not paying zakat for all the revenue received throughout the year?
i was taken aback with the question, and later in the same week, a friend of mine IM-ed and asked, "is it true that the Company does not pay any zakat?". all i could tell her at that moment was based on President's answer, the Company does not pay any zakat. however, i am sure, i told her, that the people in Finance or Treasury is looking into that thing.
when i raised that question to Abuya the other day, he told me that, the Company does not have to pay any zakat.
1st reason: Corporation = A legal designation given to a company recognized as its own entity, independent of its directors and founders. Because everyone within a corporation is an employee, no single individual is liable for the company's debt of failure. and zakat is compulsory for all individuals. individual = people. therefore, since Company is not an individual, therefore there is no obligation for the company to pay zakat.
the catch is, normal company is owned by numbers of shareholders. and this group of people are the ones that has to pay their income zakat (zakat pendapatan). and the practice is, whenever the company is paying zakat, it is actually performing the syariah obligations on behalf of the shareholders. thus resulting, the dividends paid to all shareholders are already cleaned, and they have completed one of Rukun Islam.
the good analogy is like this.
when you do not pay zakat = hell is the place you will be.
when a company does not pay zakat = for sure that company is not going to hell. how could it?
however, company is owned by shareholders.
therefore -> company does not pay zakat = shareholders' wealth is unclean = balasan neraka di akhirat kelak for the shareholders.
get it?
wallahu'alam.
2nd reason: the Company is fully owned by the government = government is the shareholders. and government-owned bodies are exempted from paying zakat.
unlike other GLCs, the government is the only shareholders of the Company (100% ownership). in MAS (or any other companies where government only owns a majority number of shares) the government is the main shareholders. therefore, these GLCs have to pay zakat on behalf of other non-government shareholders.
however, for the subsidiaries (public listed or co-owned by other companies), they have the obligations to pay zakat for their non-government shareholders. (e.g JV, Gas, Dagangan, etc)

Case Study 1: Judging a book by its cover
The timeless and ageless argument that exists since mankind interacts with mankind.
You are not good.you are not a good person.you are a bad person.I am better than you.in fact,I am someone with good behaviour and virtue, and you are not.
How does one compares with other people around him?the base for this comparison is usually set against a couple of principles held strongly by this person, usually his or her sets of morality behaviour and perspective, with the other person's sets of behaviour and principles perceived by our naked eyes.together with this observation, assisted by our inner instincts,we expressly developed our own judgments.if my principles are same with that person's,then we are good.else,we belong in two different camps.
Altho we've been told again and again: never judge a book by its cover; in our subconcious mind,we always perform this judgmental experiment and process.lets be honest, shall we? But then, the question that is to be posed is why do we? My personal view is we do these things because believe it or not,we human have this tendency to be among those we think is in the same wavelength as ours. Seriously, this so-called same wavelength helps us interacting better with each other.
In the adventure of knowing ourselves, which inadvertently getting us on the enlightened path of understanding the mankind behaviour and rituals.
So ladies and gentlemen, today's assignment is to explain and tell us why we pre-judge people and does this pre-judge ritual poses a positive or negative impacts to us.
I'll see you next time.

Songs in My head
Colbie Caillat - Bubbly
V1: I've been awake for a while now
you've got me feelin like a child now
cause every time I see your bubbly face
I get the tinglies in a silly place
C: It starts in my toes
and I crinkle my nose
where ever it goes I always know
that you make me smile
please stay for a while now
just take your time
where ever you go
V2: The rain is fallin on my window pane
but we are hidin in a safer place
under covers stayin safe (*) and warm
you give me feelins that I adore
C: It starts in my toes
make me crinkle my nose
where ever it goes
i always know
that you make me smile
please stay for a while now
just take your time
where ever you go
B: What am I gonna say
when you make me feel this way
I just........mmmmmm
C: It starts in my toes
make me crinkle my nose
where ever it goes
i always know
that you make me smile
please stay for a while now
just take your time
where ever you go
V3: I've been asleep for a while now
You tucked me in just like a child now
Cause every time you hold me in your arms
I'm comfortable enough to feel your warmth
C: It starts in my soul
And I lose all control
When you kiss my nose
The feelin shows
Cause you make me smile
Baby just take your time now
Holdin me tight
Where ever, where ever, where ever you go
Where ever, where ever, where ever you go
Where ever you go, I'll always know
Cause you make me smile here, just for a while

been hooked to this song lately. dunno why. perhaps because of the soothing voice of Colbie. or perhaps this song is the mushy-wushy feeling kinda song. not too lovey dovey or jiwang-jiwang. hahaha
Michael Buble - L.O.V.E
L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that you adore
And love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart but please don't break it
Love was made for me and you
L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that you adore
And love is all that I can give to you
Love, love, love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart but please don't break it
'Cause love was made for me and you
I said love was made for me and you
You know that love was made for me and you
L is for the way you look at me
O is for the only one I see
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that you adore
And love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two

next in the list is L.O.V.E by Michael Buble. i must say, it's the music that caught my attention. and yeah, Buble's voice is a pull factor as well. the funny thing is, i always imagine myself doing a Broadway-dance routine with this song. complete with the hat and umbrella!
went to Dewa 19 concert yesterday. was enjoying myself throughout the night.. really! Ili and Najwa, in case you're reading this, i enjoyed the show. period. :) well, i might not show it that night. but i guess that was just me. enjoying the music with different approach. hehe
well, last night, while others were singing along with Once (seriously, his voice is awesome!) and Dhani (another genius musician), and yeah, expressing themselves throughout the night, there i was, at the back and all alone (literally), sticking like sore thumbs with serious facial expressions. no singing along, no exaggerative actions (kecuali when they played Arjuna. hahaha. was really looking forward for that song). some hand and body movements.
my sight was fixed on the stage. the drummer, the bassist, the guitarist, Dhani and Once.
Once - again, his voice is awesome! he hit the high notes perfectly. and yeah, he DID not screamed in high pitch, unlike most rockers or performers.
Dani - this fella is a well-rounded musician. he was a guitarist, vocalist, keyboardist, and deejay for the band.
the drummer - hands down, this fella gave his all last night! if not because i saw him plying his trade awesomely then, i would have thot all the percussion sounds were from the sound mixer.
bassist and guitarists - they were very cool that night. i mean, that is how all guitarist and bassist should be kan? hahahahaha...
and the idea of having sheila majid (man, she still HAS it!) and rabbani was good. a different approach and style. i like it. u get a Jazz diva on stage with Dewa 19, and the result was fantastic. u add Rabbani to co-perform laskar cinta with Dewa 19, it brings a refreshing perspective on the song.
but to add Mulan to the show? am sorry to say, but she is not that good yet. yes, her dress last nite was awesome (come on, her legs.. hehehe). but still, her voice can be annoying at times. hahaha
last night should be a perfect night.
if only they started early.
admission was at 8pm. and so i thot that the show will begin earliest by 8.30pm and latest by 8.45pm.
but noooo...
Dewa 19 walked to the main stage around 9.26pm. and no reason whatsoever was given.
and yeah.
post concert, when to a Malay stall at Kota Damansara since i was craving for some Malay dish stall-cooked.
malas nak bertekak or whatever, paid the waiter, pastu chow.
makan mcD lagi bagus.
bodoh!
hahahahaha

I: bang, bagi nasi putih, telur bungkus. ngan kopi susu.
waiter bodoh: kopi tu pun sekali?
(it was 1.15am, i was tired and starving. couldn't care less to what he said. so i just nodded to whatever he said)
few minutes later..
that bl00dy waiter handed to me 3 packs of polystyrenes filled with nasi putih, and kopi susu bungkus 3.

Whitewater rafting - pictures galore

these pictures were taken minutes before we boarded our rafts, and began one of the most exhilarating whitewater rafting routes. i mean, this rafting expedition is my FIRST one for Level 3 river. previous rafting experiences were for Level 1 (very relaxing.. no need to paddle hehe), and Level 2 (and during the 2nd time of that same route, the whole boat capsized! but it was really good!)
earlier on, the guide specifically instructed us to "find someone you do not know as your raft partner". after some soul searching..err..err..ok,have to rephrase that..after looking around, decided to stick around with Shaliza (since this is her first time), Salmi (from PMU), Ili (from eXploration Carigali), and Aidi (i guess he's from PMU as well). OK, i must admit. that Ili is kinda hot, but she's too thin. hahaha. not my taste kot? plus her boyfriend was in another raft. had to be veerryy careful hohoho.
we nearly capsized at one of the most challenging whitewater sections. Jo, Fizah and Akmals' raft was the only one that capsized at that section. nevertheless, i am very sure those experience will always be remembered and treasured by them. i mean, who can ever forget their capsized-and-nearly-drowned experience? not me. altho i can't remember much, except there were loads of water. hahah.. naa..just kidding. of course i remember :)
for the record, Salmi went overboard twice (the 2nd time she fell into the river, none of us panicked. altho we were reaching a whitewater section that time). Ili went overboard once (together with Salmi).
the best part was when we reached the end point. there we were, at a small stream (anak sungai), and it was such a good spot to bermandi-manda. right across it was a log, used as small bridge to cross the stream, and conveniently, right underneath it, dasarnya dalam. maka sesuai sekali untuk acara lompat dari jambatan. malangnya, saya bukanlah seorang yang mahir dalam melakukan lompatan terjun tiruk, ataupun balik kuang (somersault) . but who cares.
the funny thing was, cuma 3 of us je yang very beria-ia mandi sungai. hahahaha. Aiman a.k.a Wong, Mohd Osama and I. and before we decided to end the foolishness and dry ourselves at the banks, Ili came by and did somersault jump with Wong.
i love whitewater rafting.
as Aizan and I said to ourselves when the raft capsized,
Bring it ON!!!!

futsal with 6+2 people
4 lelaki + 4 perempuan = futsal 1 jam.
penat gila.. but really worth it lah. burnt loads of calories (altho lepas tu gi makan2 tak hingat hahahaha)
nway, bought meself a new pair of futsal shoes. what happened to the old one? well,
earlier this morning, was holding the shoes and the bag, when i was about to open the car's door. maka saya pun letaklah kasut di atas kereta, bukak pintu, start enjin kereta, dan terus menekan minyak dan memulakan perjalanan.
sampai jalan besar, tiba2, while i was looking at the side mirror, nampak macam familiar je benda yg tgh begolek2 atas jalan...
turned around to check my shoes... and walla! it was not there!
farewell, dear Puma Shoes! your jasa dan pengorbanan will always be remembered.
bought a new Puma futsal shoes, and Gloves as well.

Monday Night Raw 15th Year Anniversary
the show rocks!
stone cold steve austin. RVD, mankind, evolution, rated-RKO, lita, trish stratus, godfather, and yeah..ric flair and DX. and a couple of old-timers like dustin rhodes and hulk hogan. eric bischoff too.
altho i kinda miss The Great One, Brahma Bull, The People Champs.. The Rock! too bad he is now too busy with his filming schedule and stuffs.
nevertheless, current WWE superstars, RAW especially, is in strong condition. look at RAW itself. we have Y2J, Randy Orton, Umaga, Jeff Hardy, Ric Flair, Mickie James, Melina, HHH, Santino Marella, Maria (yummy), etc etc.
i'm rooting for Y2J to win this Sunday at ArmAgeddon.
well, ever since Randy Orton became the champion, there's not much promo around him, unlike John Cena. i mean, Cena can interact with the audiences and keep on talking for 10 minutes and mite be more thatn that. but Orton? he has less interaction.
here's for Y2J Chris Jericho to win the Championship this Sunday!!
jericho-holic!

mood swings
been having negative energies within me throughout the month. yeah, all the unhappiness, the let-downs, the laziness, the not-in-the-mood-ness, and other vibes that has got nothing to do in making me feel a better person.
luckily i have two futsal sessions per week (well, most of the time lah)
one session is with fellow male HR practitioners from PETRONAS, while the other session is with the crazy bunch of people from MISC.
among last week's highlights are:
futsal session - went for futsal game with the MISC lot. had a good game with them. and yeah, have i mentioned before how friendly and crazy they are? i mean, i was there for about 10 minutes and they already treated me as if they've known me for a week! being the only one not in the group (during my first session with them), somehow they did not neglect me. well, perhaps the fact that Lan is there might contribute to something la kot. so, back to the story. after the game, decided to have dinner at this beautiful place with beauuuutiful sceneries: Out Look Point. it is located at Langat, off Jalan Ampang. good foo with good companions. what else one could ask for? and yeah, those moment really helps in flourishing my positive energy.
d'arranged marriage - ING held its customer appreciation nite, and they had a comedy theatre show later that night. the show was known as D'Arranged Marriage. it was hilarious! all with the multiple characters, complete with their own distinctive personalities! and there's more. the show is only ONE man show. yeap. he acted all the characters! and yeah, my date for that night is Nazreen :)
The Kingdom - the movie IS good!
Enchanted and The Golden Compass - the movies are good! and the night spent was worth remembering. :)

my positive energy is now fully charged !!!
bring it on.
bring it on.
movie mania
successfully watched 3 movies in 2 days time.
friday nite:
The Kingdom
highly recommended! the storyline was superb, the opening montage was superb too, good acting as well as good doses of actions to keep you sitting at the edge of your seats.
saturday nite:
Enchanted
the fact that i went to watch this movie with someone, well, might affect my judgement in reviewing this movie hehehe. anyways, Enchanted is a-must-see movie. the real-life twist added to standard fairy-tale storyline, add into the equation on how some fairy-tale scenes might look like in real life showed in the movie, and you will find yourself captivated by the movie.
enchanted with it to say the least.
as the direct BM translation: TERPESONA
The Golden Compass
awesome.
i mean the CGI, the special effects and some of the story concepts. and seriously, all the hullaballo about the movie consists hidden messages on Church misuing their powers (which of course does happen in real life), the atheist message, as well as reference to some other message, all of these might be some issues cooked up to gain HUGE publicity. well, if there is any message, well done for i had been successfully being influenced with the subliminal messages.
as the girlfriend said, "slow aa cerita dia". for the record, The Golden Compass is part 1 of a trilogy. so its more like LotR: The Fellowship of the Ring. not much action, but too much story being told.

jiwang mode: ON
lately my gtalk status is always like this:
jiwang mode:ONand yeah. have a terrible mood swing this past week. cheerful early in the morning. depressed in the afternoon.motivated back in late afternoon. and demotivated by late evening. and before sleep, full of anger. and not forgetting feeling inferior and worthless.
if those mood swings happen to any women, then i guess it is normal. but the fact that i'm a man.. hurmm.. no wonder pimples sprouted all over my face. had a BIG one at my nose. i nearly mistaken myself as Rudolph the reindeer! hehehe
anyway, i guess it's how Popular Sanguine type of person acts. we have this emotional roller coaster. and somehow we tend to overcome the emotion very fast, as if we don't care.
well. we do care actually.
to marina, happy belated birthday.
to zaireen bahari, happy birthday love.

Reflect and Re-think
well, it's December already. one more month to go before we reach the end of 2007, and the beginning of 2008. and before we put back our thinking cap, let us sweep the dust, search for our reflect cap, and put it on.
are you ready? jom.
let us look back at 2007's resolution.
(hehehe..seriously, KPI tak meet langsung!)
so, based on last year's resolution, tak kisah la whether dapat fulfill or not, jom put on back our thinking cap, and start drafting 2008 resolution! we still got 25 days to go befor ewe should finalise the resolutions! :)
so, selamat drafting your next year's resolutions!

entry saje je nak ada update
i guess it's true. the old adage, "it is lonely when you are at the top".
we kinda stopped interacting casually since that day. we used to hang out together, talked about anything. and now, when we met, it's either about work or project.
*sigh*
well, seems that street is the place to be right now. first, we have the Bersih thingy. then, we have the Hindraf thingy. what's next? an illegal gathering by the Chinese?
deja vu.
1969. figure it out.
stupid people.
the Malays are saying that the Government are doing nothing to protect their rightful interest.
the Indians are saying that they are being oppressed and depressed, thanks to pro-Bumiputera government.
two different causes, and two similarity.
both believed in protesting on the street.
both greatly being praised by international media for their honesty in highlighting their plight.
stupid.
and suddenly, in my frenster account, a friend of mine set his status as, "Malaysian Indian go to hell!!"
excuse me?
and a close relative of mine suggested, "susah2 kita hantar je derang balik India"
excuse me?
then the protesters or demonstrators that took part in Bersih and reformasi gathering should also be instructed to,"go to hell!!"
then the Malays are to be sent back home to Indonesia, since there is where our ancestors came from.
i am longing for the day, when people ask me, what is your race, i'd answer freely and happily, "im a Malaysian".
but till now, i am yet to do so.
why?
i guess deep inside me, i'm still a racist.
sucks kan?

apology
am i digressing?
thousand apologies for the previous entry. just needed a venue to express it. although, macam berterabur la pulak.OK, OK. next post will be a proper one. i promise.
one-sided view
BERSIH: my point-of-view
disclaimer: this is my personal comment and thoughts.
it was a terrible day for vehicle-drivers in Klang Valley. massive traffic jams everywhere. luckily i was not one of them.
the reason for the traffic jams? massive police road-block.
why?
BERSIH gathering and rally to Istana Negara.
before i proceed with my rambling, here's a good point that i feel should be highlighted:
during Umno Youth gathering and rally from KLCC mosque to US embassy after that Friday prayer, did the police take any action (e.g resorting to water cannon, tear gas) to disperse the crowd? do the organisers even have police permit to do so?
oh, terlupa la plak. KJ was one of them.
ok, back to Bersih.
the record shows that our lot just like to be in the crowd. well, with the ever increasing cost of living especially in the metropolis, who would pass the opportunity to do so? best woo jalan ramai2. strength with the horde. strength in numbers.
i never liked these kind of gathering, since the days of "reformasi".
yeah. since those days. reminded me of clashes between anti-globalisation and security forces.
paling best, remind me of Indonesia.
ade changes ke? they protest and everything. ade hasil?
entah laa...
what we need right now is a strong Opposition. Opposition that truly play it roles in checking and balancing the government's power.
i thought that Barisan Alternatif might be the answer.
hahahahahahha....
ade lagi ke?
perhaps we should just stick to "two" party concept. BN and BA. then it will be easier.
KJ? derang kata xleh, sbb he's pro-US. hurmm... then most of Oppositions key-figures pun macam pro-US jugak kan? yelaa. bile some foreign minister from belah sana kata gomen kita tak adil, derang sokong. bile dulu one of them sokong reformasi movement, geng2 kat sini melaung-laungkan kata2 tersebut.
dua kali lima je.
najib? pon x boleh. sbb it's the wife yang kontrol sbnr-nya. hurmmm... rasanya presiden wanita tu pun sama je pengaruh dia kepada suaminya itu. sebabnya? waktu husband's downfall, dia support tanpa berbelah bahagi. and seharusnya, wanita itu dikagumi lebih dari lelaki itu.
*sigh* laie beberapa bulan je nak election. aku still belum dapat decide nak undi siapa.
well, betulla kot. politik itu kotor. cuma aku rasa yang aku akan undi is the party yang kurang sikit kotor dari party2 yang lain.
nak salahkan gomen atas masalah sosial?
hahahahhahaha... apa gunanya masyarakat dan sosial itu? apa peranan derang? kalo nak tunggu semua gomen buat, susah aa... birokrasi beb!
dah laa.. makin melalut dah entry ni.
semoga dgn Bersih itu, dapatlah kita mengamalkan Cara Hidup Bersih. ingat, Kitar Semula TanggungJawab kita semua!
chow

they claimed it was a non-political rally.
bullshit.they questioned on why there is none of BN component parties joined the rally.
Pak Lah himself does not condone the gathering. dah ketua tak bagi, takkan nak join kot? nak gaduh2 macam Kayveas ngan Gerakan/MIC ke?the rally is important as it shows how most Malaysians agree that EC is unfair.
another bullshit.the record shows that our lot just like to be in the crowd. well, with the ever increasing cost of living especially in the metropolis, who would pass the opportunity to do so? best woo jalan ramai2. strength with the horde. strength in numbers.
mainstream medias are banned from reporting any report from the rally.
no wonder laa.. penat aku cek sokkabar online, nak tau what happened. nak cek kat website lain, kena register plak..aiseh..malas la plak.i never liked these kind of gathering, since the days of "reformasi".

goodbye my love
it is time to bid farewell.
it is unfortunate that we have to end this brief, but sweet relationship.
you were always by my side, even when i am all alone. accompanying me throughout the night with your soothing voice.
i was indecisive when i met. felt everything was good when i'm with you.
but now.
we just have to part ways.
the truth is, i've found a perfect companion. the one who truly meets the criteria that i've dreamt all along.
the one that i just couldn't stop thinking about.
and it happens to be, you are not it.
good bye, dear laptop.
and welcome, my new gaming rig!!!

it's time
it's time..
to move on. the other person already has
to lay low. it's not easy nowadays when i wanted to meet them.
to look around. someone out there might hold the answer.

Huh?
big bummer.
i mean big BUMMER
must she uttered, "yes, he's gay".
can't she just tell us that, "his love is to all, regardless of who and what you are".
and just because he has affection to his friend-then-enemy, somehow stronger than what friends have, can't she just tell us that it is only brotherly love?
and the audience, oh my God. there were silence, then followed by cheers and applauds.
wadefak?
then i guess we can safely presumed that all this while He is protecting Harry because he is a paedo-gay then?
no wonder Voldemort was afraid of him! alas, i am reconsidering to join Slytherin!

of Raya, Work, Reflection and everything in between

well, this year Raya sure is different. a lot. period. not wearing songkok during 1st day of Raya. first time handing out green packets of duit raya. is declared as not eligible to receive duit raya (altho Opah Wan Bidah is the only one who gave the green packet. yeay!). visited 3 graves (Atok's in PJ, Atok's in Perak and Opah's in KL). no kuah kacang throughout 4 days of Raya. had Rendang Kerbau (seriously, it is Good! sedap gila). managed to eat Dodol on the 4th day of Raya.
but nothing beats the excitement of having the whole family members under one roof.
the 1st Raya, we gathered at my Nenek's place in PJ. and seems like everyone was there. had great time meeting with dearest cousins, menyakat makcik2 kat dapur, plus helping myself to the dishes yang terhidang. menu of the day: nasi himpit, sambal sotong, kuah lodeh, rendang kerang, ayam masak merah, rendang daging, nasi minyak, kari ayam and sayur acar.
2nd day of Raya, we gathered at Mak Ndek's place at Kampung Gajah, and had some do'a selamat to welcome Aidil Fitri, and may The Almighty blessed us all throughout the year. Menu of the day: Rendang Kerbau, Rendang Kerang, Rendang Daging, Lemang, Spaghetti, Tomyam Campur, Tempoyak and Fruit Cocktail.
not forgetting, Baskin Robbin's ice cream later that evening.
earlier today, i was in the office. yes. i am a dedicated staff. willingly not taking any Raya leaves, just to be in the office and working. unlike others. hehehe.
yela tu..kerja la sangat.
since was soo not in the mood, decided to lepak2 with Kudin and Iyra at the level below. we kinda planned to have a small raya gathering (read: makan2 kuih). well, it didn't happened as we planned. since there were lots of Kuih Raya, decided to invite those who were in the office to come and join the celebration. plus, all big-big bosses are still on vacation. hehehe. we served the guests with tea, Kuih Raya (iyra baked Kuih CornFlakes and cookies, Kudin bought some kuih and he baked a "sponge" cake, and yours truly just brought the kuih that the client gave the other day), and most importantly, Lagu-Lagu Raya. Oh yeah, had my 1st real Dodol! man, it sure feels good to have real dodol. hahahahaha. big Thanks to Iyra :)

later, after office hour, went to Najwa's crib with Shaliza. Boy, the drive to Rawang sure was worth it. we were served with Nasi Goreng, MeeHoon Goreng Basah, Rendang Limpa+Ayam (my first rendang that mixed both beef and chicken..it was dat good!), Nasi Himpit, Mini Samosa, Heart-Shaped Nuggets and Keropok Goreng.
i guess now i know why lately i kinda acted like a rebellious son. of why i kinda disobeyed my parents' words, why i decided to go against their wishes, and why sometimes i felt like directly opposing to whatever they are saying.
i am afraid.
afraid of having to live under my parents' shadows for eternity. afraid of known as "anak encik Nazlan", not as "Azamil Izzat". i guess its the feeling of wanting to be known as Me. not by someone-who-is-related-to-someone, but by my own identity and personality.
but looking back at my father, altho people back at Kampung knew him by "Lan anak Brahim", he is proud of that. and yet, most people know and acknowledge him as "Haji Nazlan". he is now living under his parents' shadow, yet he has a shadow on its own. to others, he has and stands with his own identity. but he humbly accepts when people acknowledge him with his parents' shadows.
i guess it's time for me to do the same thing.
seek shelter underneath the parents' shadows, while reaching out, so one day, i would be able to stand under my own shadow. and yet, still exists under their shadows.
it's time

coretan hari ini
this coming AidilFitri will be a huge forward leap for me, literally.
this will be my 1st raya without Opah. we sure miss her so much.
this will be my 1st raya where instead of receiving, i will give this time around.
just finished preparing the green packets. *hint* *hint*
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
she once told me, after had to decline my invitation for iftar together
dan sekarang, masing-masing terlalu sibuk. dan acapkali aku terpaksa menebalkan muka ajak dia buka puasa sama2, tapi dengan jayanya terpaksa ditolak. sibuk katanya.
aku takleh nak kata apa2.

knapa rasa bersalah plak? tanya diriku
yela. ko buka sorang2. aku paham camne rasa buka sorang2. sbb aku pun selalu camtu.sudah. tiba-tiba aku pulak yg rasa bersalah sbb buat dia tak senang hati.

of VWB, BBQ and everyhting in between
VWB = Volunteers Without Border.
this is what i aim to be. i mean, wouldn't it be wonderful if you could extend your helping hand literally to anyone in Malaysia, or even the world? that would be awesome. yes, there are lots of charity organisations doing that, amongst all is MERCY. well, might join them in few years time la kot. as for now, i'll just develop and harness my own capabilities, commitment, as well as the enthusiasm to do so. and yeah, if my wife permits me to do so :)
we received a request for help from one of our champions in Projek TEKAD. after a brief discussion among us, it has been decided that we will drive all the way to Ijok, Perak to answer her call. Naz sent an email to the Coaches, and received positive responses from them. in a period of two days with a short notice, fund collected is more than rm500! may ALLAH bless their souls. Alhamdulillah.
then, Saturday 6th Oct marked the day when Aizan, Asma, Cha'aint and I travelled to Ijok from Ipoh. we brought along a 'trunk' full of food as to ease their preparation for this coming raya, as well as the fund collected.
the Champion lives with her grandparents, 3 siblings and a blind aunt.
her Tok Wan earned rm300 per month, just enough to support those under his care.
the Champion's siblings are all in school.
it's not the poverty that touched me most. it's not the condition of the house they call home (it's not that bad anyway. they do have basic necessities). and for sure it's not the fact that the Champion's parent left them to live with the aging grandparents.
it's their will to fight on. to continue in making tomorrow a better day. best of all, how they always think of things positively.
earning less than rm300, while supporting a big family with schooling children. and yet, they still look at things from positive point of view.
earning rm2500 per month, while paying a small fraction for the car, and yet sometimes i questioned my motivation level.
my most important takeaway from the visit: besar jugak rupanya gaji aku...
BBQ @ JC
it was awesome. great food, great place, great host and great company! must do this more often. but where? takkan la at Master's place again? (altho i don't mind actually hehe)
alrite, gtg. dah mula pening kepala masa hantar elle balik.
better tido skrg. satgi nk bgn sahur balik.
roger and out!

yes, i....
yes, i know you are just doing your part in spreading the words of the prophet.
yes, i understand you are just fulfilling your obligation as a good muslim in reminding us all.
yes, i feel you when all you wanted to do is to ber-dakwah to others, so that they will not stray far from the straight path.
yes, i do support your mission in reminding us on the infidels' actions to destroy our religion.
but please, brothers and sisters, please.
stop spreading those stories on what people of other faith are doing in disgracing our religion.
stop forwarding those nasty rumours on what the people of other faith are planning to destroy our faith and religion.
and please, i beg you, please.
stop forwarding false hadiths; false Quranice verses that contain questionable meanings; chain-mail on bad luck if you do not spread the mail to others; and false prophecies; and not forgetting stories of "jihadist" killing people in the name of upholding the faith.
does this sounds familiar?:
the thing is, it sounds like something is not right.
and when i asked the friend who forwarded the email to me, questioning his source, the reply that i got was,
the funny thing is, as i received others "funny" reminders forwarded to me by my friends; when i questioned them, listed below are typical answers given:
dude, tak kisah la the intended message tuh memang benda yang betul. tapi dah penyampaian tu tak betul, maka jadi tak betullah.
e.g.
the sentences highlighted in green = betullah tu. baguslah berzikir, bertasbih dan bertahmid setiap hari. and menjadi tanggungjawab kita untuk menyebarkan ajaran Rasulullah SAW.
yg merah tu yg problemnya. who are we to suka-suki je cakap those things will happen? ini dah macam surat berantai dah.
you see, most of us, nampak point2 baik dan bagus, terus jump to conclusion yang the whole reminder is good. vice versa, ceteris paribus. nampak points tak baik, terus assume the whole message is not good.
if nak forward to others pon, pleaseee lah. check dulu. verify dulu, betul or not. jgn pakai forward je.
instead of pahala, entah2 free2 je dapat dosa sebab menyebarkan fitnah dan penipuan.
p/s: the same thing goes to when you ada dgr gossip or rumours. especially to PET staffs. pantang dgr rumours gaji nak naik je, terus percaya. pastu bile nothing happened, salahkan HR.
*sigh*
yes, i understand you are just fulfilling your obligation as a good muslim in reminding us all.
yes, i feel you when all you wanted to do is to ber-dakwah to others, so that they will not stray far from the straight path.
yes, i do support your mission in reminding us on the infidels' actions to destroy our religion.
but please, brothers and sisters, please.
stop spreading those stories on what people of other faith are doing in disgracing our religion.
stop forwarding those nasty rumours on what the people of other faith are planning to destroy our faith and religion.
and please, i beg you, please.
stop forwarding false hadiths; false Quranice verses that contain questionable meanings; chain-mail on bad luck if you do not spread the mail to others; and false prophecies; and not forgetting stories of "jihadist" killing people in the name of upholding the faith.
does this sounds familiar?:
Do'a malaikat Jibril menjelang Ramadhan " "Ya Allah tolong abaikanthis is one example of messages forwarded to me, in early Ramadhan this year.
puasa ummat Muhammad, apabila sebelum memasuki bulan Ramadhan dia
tidak melakukan hal-hal yang berikut:
* Tidak memohon maaf terlebih dahulu kepada kedua orang tuanya (jika
masih ada);
* Tidak berma'afan terlebih dahulu antara suami isteri;
* Tidak bermaafan terlebih dahulu dengan orang-orang sekitarnya.
Maka Rasulullah pun mengatakan Amiin sebanyak 3 kali. Dapatkah kita
bayangkan, yang berdo'a adalah Malaikat dan yang meng-amiinkan
adalah Rasullullah dan para sahabat, dan dilakukan pada hari Jumaat.
the thing is, it sounds like something is not right.
and when i asked the friend who forwarded the email to me, questioning his source, the reply that i got was,
"entah. aku dapat dari orang lain. aku forwardkan je. as a reminder to us all"and i said to myself, "HAH?"
the funny thing is, as i received others "funny" reminders forwarded to me by my friends; when i questioned them, listed below are typical answers given:
- ha'ah la. semacam plak bunyi dia. tapi aku forward je. sebagai peringatan
- entah. aku forwardkan je. untuk kita beringat-ingat.
- betul laa..member aku yg anta ni bleh dipercayai. ikut jelaa.
- betul jugak. tapi kita buat la benda2 baik yg dia suruh. yang tak betul tu tinggalkan la
- hehe. aku tau. ade gak few others responded. aku nak tau je brape ramai yg betol2 baca
wth?
dude, tak kisah la the intended message tuh memang benda yang betul. tapi dah penyampaian tu tak betul, maka jadi tak betullah.
e.g.
Sabda Rasulullah SAW: "sebarkanlah ajaranku walaupun satu ayat"
the sentences highlighted in green = betullah tu. baguslah berzikir, bertasbih dan bertahmid setiap hari. and menjadi tanggungjawab kita untuk menyebarkan ajaran Rasulullah SAW.
yg merah tu yg problemnya. who are we to suka-suki je cakap those things will happen? ini dah macam surat berantai dah.
you see, most of us, nampak point2 baik dan bagus, terus jump to conclusion yang the whole reminder is good. vice versa, ceteris paribus. nampak points tak baik, terus assume the whole message is not good.

, , ,
am tired of repeating the same thing over and over again, only to stumble while everything seems to be going smoothly. different people, same occurances.
perhaps it's a sign. a sign for me to reconsider back. is this what i want?
part of me says "yes"; while the other side keep on telling me "the time will come".
so how?

ladies and gentlemen, some trivia facts before we start the show.
did you know, that today (2nd October 2007) marks 1 year of me as an employee of PETRONAS?
now, you know.
gosh, (this might sound cheeky) time flies really fast. sedar or not, it's one year already. and i consider myself very lucky on the facts that:
puasa (noun). menahan diri dari makan dari minum, dan perkara yang membatalkan dari terbit fajar hingga terbenamnya matahari
quick recap on what happened throughout August till Early October!
remember the entry about the fireworks thingy? finally managed to get the pics from Naz :)
went to Putrajaya with a gf. thot that the fireworks started at 10, so we kinda a bit rushed to get there. fortunately, the fireworks started exactly when the clock struck 12. the unfortunate part was when we had to wait for freaking 2 hours. luckily she don't mind waiting for me in the car, while i tried to get some sleep since the next day promises to be a day full of activities.

this camp is like a motivation camp, except the participants are not your typical students-taking-exams-so-they-need-some-motivation. this camp targeted audiences are the children who spent most of their time learning and perfecting the trade of street kids. yes, they are what we call "Street Kids".
for us, they are diamond in the roughs. in fact, after 3 days full of challenging activities (physically, mentally and spiritually), we managed to get the best out of them.

*i am happy*
*i am excellent*
highlights of the camp? well, apart from a female facilitator (hehehe), and not forgetting Vanessa (triple hehehehe), here's a snippet of activities we did in 3 days and 2 nights:-

- i am eligible for this year's bonus (the fact that i reported for duty not at 8am, but at 2pm!)
- am in a department with good teamwork and "family" oriented
- am reporting to a nice lady boss, and cool GM
- i have internet access at office! hehehe

- multi-chamber caving
- some activities in the cold river *shivers*
- some modules in the nights
- performances by participants and trainers
- and of course, WHITE WATER RAFTING
- the boat capsized. whole raft crew were thrown overboard. no casualties reported.
- we went through one of the most challenging white water (a.k.a jeram), "the triple threat" in a reverse position. (instead of facing the raging streams, Vanessa the anchor steered the raft in backward position)
- the boat capsized again. this time on purpose. :)

this is soo not me
(sweeping the dust off my blog)
good day, ladies and gentlemen. i am now reclaiming back http://zamiliz.blogspot.com as my rightful entity after a month of "couldn't care less" on this site's well being. (draft, less than 10 words for an entry, as well as commenting do not fall under "taking care of the blog" category)
so much to tell, yet sometimes it's hard for me to pour it out in writing. yes, i have to admit. i am not good in describing things, let alone describing people, using words. what's with my limited vocabularies of English, that is soo not helping. and yeah, not forgetting the grammar. it's like a train wreck over here.
am so used of being turned down at the last hour, that somehow i have become immune to this thing. most of the time i managed to view this thing from the positive side (e.g have other pressing matters, unplanned outing with friends, last minute work coming in, not feeling well, had to accompany someone), but once in a while, negative vibe crept inside me. am i that dispensable? is the thing planned together can easily be override by other people's plan? they think that i am OK with this thing all the time? well, sometimes yeah. it's OK, fine. but when the thought of "people might think that plan with me is not as important as plan with others" came to me, then please, by all means, please do it over and over again. i guess these people kinda enjoy making me feel miserable like this.
but luckily, this feeling comes once in a blue moon, and it does not stay too long to cause any trouble.

lesson learned: always prepare list of back-up plans.
sorry, just have to vent this negative vibe :) will post heart warming stories in next entries k? hehe

night with buddies
it was a night to remember. it has been years since Iqbal, Khalid, Mior, Helmi and i last lepak2 together till the wee hours of morning. it all started when Mior sms-ed me, telling that Helmi wanted to meet up with the rest of the gang later that nite. since i had nothing to do that nite, replied Mior that i'm in.
some things never change. was suppose to meet up at 10pm, but i was a bit late, around 10.30pm i've some chores to settle at home 1st. when i reached there, walla! nobody was there yet. looks like the late comers became the early bird! called them, and they replied, "on the way"
luckily there was a match going on that time. so instead of wasting my time sitting there like a fool, decided to order cups of teh tarik and lepak2 all alone.
11pm. well, around that time la jugak. the four of them arrived, finally.
lepak2, borak2 and when it was midnite, decided to crash at Iqbal's crib. if we are lucky, there might still have ayam goreng and air oren!
(back in circa 1997-1998, iqbal's crib is our favourite place to hang out before the school starts. why? coz only at his home we got to play computer games, PlayStation, and not forgetting standard lunch menu = nasi putih, ayam goreng and air oren/cold plain water)
decided to spend the nite by playing PS2 games, and boy, i was given tutorial lessons on Pro Evolution Soccer 101. to be honest, i dun't play footie game much. so when the boys decided to paksa me playing PES, and they purposely letting down their guard a.k.a main kesian with me, i must say that i am now proud to say that i've played PES game! :)
we played till azan subuh berkumandang, menandakan telah masuk waktu untuk we all go back home.
those special 7 hours were awesome. and they still are.
one thing for sure, the next time the whole bunch of us are back here in Malaysia, remind me to paksa they all to play StarCraft LAN party!
p/s: sorry ropai and anas, before i met you guys, these people are my StarCraft clan..hehehe

recap back
had a super-duper busy week! last week, i was involved in one of the company's big event, and literally was busy moving around from Concorde Hotel to KL Convention Centre back to ConcordeHotel. initially planned to chill out at Hard Rock Cafe, but had to leave that one out due to hectic work schedule.
wednesday: KLCC -(taxi)-> Concorde Hotel -(monorail)-> Sime Darby Building -(monorail)-> Concorde Hotel -(walk)-> KLCC -(car)-> Concorde Hotel
thursday: Concorde Hotel -(bus)-> KL Convention Centre @ Convex -(walk)-> KLCC -(walk)-> KL Convex -(walk)-> KLCC -(walk)-> KL Convex -(walk)-> Concorde Hotel
friday: Concorde Hotel -(bus)-> KL Convention Centre @ Convex -(walk)-> Concorde Hotel -(bus)-> KL Convex -(bus)-> Concorde Hotel
then on Saturday, had a good rest till noon, before went back home for a short nap, before rushing off to meet Nazzie, Jenny and Jacy. we are going to watch the 1st ever Malaysia International Fireworks competition in Putrajaya!
well, the show was awesome, although it lasted for about 20 minutes++. the down side? we paid freaking rm39 for nothing!
total ripped off!
reached home around 1 am, thanks to massive traffic jam in Putrajaya. slept at 2.
sunday.
woke up early, around 7am. then off to Nadiah's place. Sunday is recce trip to Gopeng. we are going to organise a kinda-motivational camp for teenagers, so we have to check out the place first before we (it's me actually) can be very confident in doing the activities together with our brothers and sisters later.
the Recce trip consists of : Nadiah, Carol, Ain@Bed, me, and Mama Gie.
we went for absailing, caving Gua Kandu, some flying-fox, as well as little jungle trekking.
reached home around 11pm. and tomorrow is Monday, working day.
unfortunately, high fever struck me early in the morning.
and till now, i'm recuperating from the fever, but still having the cold and cough as well as sore throat.

Election Fever

HYPE (HRM Division Young Professional Executives) Club will be having its Annual General Meeting tomorrow. and i've been nominated for 2 posts. President/Vice President and Director of Corporate Events. this would be my first election as a member, and i'm really looking forward to vote. hehe. although i might be voting for myself, but who cares? :)
it will be 3-nominees fight for the seats of President and Vice President. 2 gentlemen and 1 beautiful lady. and throughout the campaigning week, one was really campaigning for votes (he really reached out to the voters, influencing them to vote for him). The lady had her friends promoted and campaigned for her (even gave public testimonials). And me? hurmm.. let's say that i only sent a promotional email to the voters.
and my friends were asking me, "you tak promote and campaign ke?"
well, i believe that should the members believe that i should win either seats, then they will vote me. if i lose, then i believe i have loads of things to improve.
well, godspeed, and wish me luck.

dreams
was browsing thru my old entries, i found out this particular interesting entry that i wrote 2 years ago.
dream 1
i was in the carpark with this gorgeous girl-friend..somehow i felt i know her in real life..maybe it's just my imagination..nevertheless, when we reached my car, went inside, and left the parking..while i was driving, she said this to me,"hey, lets talk about relationships..tell me about yours"
i was thinking on saying "have none" when suddenly...
*kapoosh* woke up :p
dream 2
i was at the door of a house, when suddenly a woman told me, "look into the stars, and you will find what you are looking for..your soulmate"...and i looked at the sky...and i saw..i saw..i can't recall what i saw in my dream..
another entry
i'm fat and chubby
i have pimples all over my face
my skin is not smooth, what's with the scars
i don't have 6-packs abs
i'm not earning 10 digits money per month
i don't drive posh cars
i don't have latest model of handphone
i don't drive sporty cars
brad pitt is much better good-looking than me
heck, even halim othman looks good compared to me
i don't like waking up before 8am everyday
i don't like not being able to do things as i see fits
please, don't misjudge me. I'm not writing an entry filled with complaints and things i hate. it's just that i hope by writing those things down, I'll be able to remind myself of why i dislike seeing myself writing like that.
talk about being ungrateful for what you have.
a Senior Manager once told us, "to listen with empathy is listening to understand".
.................................................................................................................................
and she told me the other day about what happened between her and an elder man. and i tried to listen to her with empathy. but i just couldn't help but to agree with what the elder man said.
the question is, "did i listen with empathy that day?". and if YES, "was it right for me to make decisions based on my limited knowledge on what actually happened?".
.................................................................................................................................
she's away for the whole next week. doing things she's supposed to do. hopefully she's enjoying herself there. harap2 tak mabuk laut.
..................................................................................................................................
and to satisfy her thirst for quotes, here is one:

pasar malam
what would you do if you are to go back home at 8pm, and it is still 6pm? you have nothing to do in the office, and you just bored yourself strolling around the shopping complex day after day.
in my case, i called her. and luckily, she told me that since she's fasting, she wanted to go to nearby pasar malam to buy some food for her to buka puasa. and i told her that i want to tag along. and she told me to meet her downstairs.
i really miss the fun of spending your time walking along the stalls at pasar malam. you get to see lots of faces, various behaviours by the public, as well as what makes Malaysia wonderful. the truly diversity of food one can eat. nasi kerabu, ayam percik, nasi ayam, nasi lemak, murtabak (my favourite), ayam goreng, rangka ayam goreng, kebab, and not forgetting TauFuFa.
bought meself ayam goreng and taufufa for the eldest sister, while she bought kuey teow and ayam goreng for herself.
mental note to myself: Monday is Pasar Malam day! :)

High by Lighthouse Family
When you're close to tears remember
Some day it'll all be over
One day we're gonna get so high
And though it's darker than December
What's ahead is a different colour
One day we're gonna get so high
And at
The end of the day
remember the days
When we were close to the edge
And we'll wonder how we made it through the night
The end of the day
remember the way
We stayed so close till the end
We'll remember it was me and you
'Cause we are gonna be forever you and me
You will always keep me flying high in the sky of love
Don't you think it's time you started
Doing what we always wanted
One day we're gonna get so high
'Cause even the impossible
is easy when we got each other
One day 'we're gonna get so high
And at
The end of the day
remember the days
when we were close to the edge
And we'll wonder how we made it through the night
The end of the day
remember the way
We stayed so close to till the end
We'll remember it was me and you.
'Cause we are gonna be forever you and me
You will always keep me flying high in the sky of love
'Cause we are gonna be forever you and me
You will always keep me flying high in the sky of love
High, high, high, high, high, high, high, high
And at
The end of the day
remember the days
when we were close to the edge
And we'll wonder how we made it through the night
The end of the day
remember the way
We stayed so close to till the end
We'll remember it was me and you.
'Cause we are gonna be forever you and me
You will always keep me flying high in the sky of love (x3)

well, there goes my self-imposed exile. one just cannot tahan himself anymore from blogging. it's like too many things happened, and ironically i'm not suppose to blog.
ok, here goes.. :) how's that?
fell in love with this song masa mula2 dengar kat radio. highly motivating.
so, the big question now is, why did i decided to stop blogging for a while? (which of course, the exile ended prematurely) why?
well, i guess maybe during that time i was emotionally exhausted kot. focused too much on giving, and neglecting the receiving part. and somehow affected my work performance (seriously, burnt out gile2), and not forgetting the social performance (if there is such thing)
but now, dah re-energized! hopefully. the nasi kerabu, nasi dagang, satar, otak2, ayam bakar, daging bakar, and ayam percik yang telah dimakan sepanjang percutian Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan Pantai Timur, should be more than enough kan? hehehe
i don't want you to have wrong thoughts
Some day it'll all be over
One day we're gonna get so high
And though it's darker than December
What's ahead is a different colour
One day we're gonna get so high
And at
The end of the day
remember the days
When we were close to the edge
And we'll wonder how we made it through the night
The end of the day
remember the way
We stayed so close till the end
We'll remember it was me and you
'Cause we are gonna be forever you and me
