we always hear/watch/read in news, interviews, articles, and even in speeches; of how the international world, especially the non-muslims always misinterpreted on what Islam is all about. thanks to the infamous 11th September 2000's incident, the word Islam has been associated with terrorist OR violent OR insurgent OR sectarian bloodshed.

how inconvenience. to add insult to the injury, even the Pope publicly quoted a statement that potrayed Muslims (or Moslems as they spelled) as a vicious and god-less people. do we still remember on how it caused a great uproar in the whole Muslim's society?

reflecting on this issue, we tend to get so sensitive when people misinterpreted Islam. yes, of course we need to be sensitive on that issue, particularly when we're talking about Islam. it is OUR responsibility to maintain and uphold Islam's integrity and strength.

but why the non-muslims misinterpreted the true meaning of Islam? is it just because the majority of today's terrorists are Muslims in faith? or because they did violent actions in the name of the religion?

yes. those reasons are indeed, VALID. but may i add another one OR two reasons, please?

We are arrogrant. most of us. i remember vividly, back in UTP, there was this online forum where people talked and discussed lots of things. and in one of the sections, there is this remark on it. "Religious and Faith: a place to discuss and know more. please participate in a matured manner"

and there i was, prompted to start a new thread, since there is no variations of issue being discussed there. (mostly discussed on Hari Raya, ramadhan and other stories). so i started a new entry, i-cant-remember-what-i-wrote-but-its-kinda-like-this: Tell Us about Your Religion.

why do i chose "tell us about your religion?". tell me, ladies and gentlemen, how many of you really know the origins of Malaysia's festival and celebration? well, we do know that Hari Raya AidilFitri is to celebrate the end of Puasa, CNY is to celebrate the 1st day of the chinese calendar, Deepavali is like Festival of Light, and X'mas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus. i bet that's all you know (the one you don't celebrate sangat2 la). those celebrations are mooted from the religions' beliefs (except CNY. but in this case lets replace CNY with Wesak Day). but why? for sure apart from the commercialised reasons, there are the real reasons. i mean, we dont celebrate AidilFitri just to celebrate the end of Ramadhan. there are other reasons too, right?

the next day, there was a reply in the topic's thread. the entry was, "sebelum kita nak tahu pasal agama lain, baik kita mendalami agama sendiri"

and there i was, stumped and dumb-founded with what i read.
we talked and talked about the need to have inter-religion dialogues and talks, in order to create an even blissful, united and prosperous nation. but even before we are able to do so, people started to question the motives, the why?s and the need to do so.

in order to win the non-muslims heart, we need to know about them. from social up till religion. gain their trust. ready to accept them.

then, when the time is appropriate, show them what Islam is all about. its not having to fast in Ramadhan only. its not having beard or veil only. it is more than that. those things stated before are part of Islam.

from my observation, the negativity of Islam's image is being potrayed by both sides. the non-muslims, and the muslims too. on non-muslims side, they quickly reached a conclusion and made assumptions that Muslims are terrorists. on the muslims side, we acted aggresively in such manner (road demonstration turned into violent battlefield between protestors and the authorities) that it created a bad publicity.

people would say, "u told me that the word Islam derived from arabic word means Peace. and u also told me that Islam is a peaceful religion and faith. but tell me, why are the majority of today's terrorists are Muslims?"

standard answers: "they are being deprived by the non-muslims. since they have no other medium to release their frustration, they went to the path of a terrorist." OR "they are Jihadist. fighting for the greater cause in the name of Islam. and they are not terrorist, they are heroes."

cant we just say, "they are falsely being led to believe they are fighting a holy war. being depressed for so long, they have been easily influenced by these-no-good people. its not because of the religion matter. although thats what they're claiming to do. its either they've been misled to believe its a true cause, or, they wanted to get even with their depressor." ??

why is today's world in like so screwed? because of our arrogance and the egoistical need to have everyhting. even when we know, its not ours.

festivals and religion celebrations are just around the corner. so why not take this opportunity to at least know a bit about the celebrations?

p/s: i'm not asking you to participate in the festivals (there are several sensitive issues on this matter).

dumb founded

remember my entry on Morocco's decision to ban women from wearing veil?
looks like this veil-phobia is spreading in Africa.

The Tunisian authorities have launched a campaign against the Islamic veil worn by some women to cover their hair.

and quite frighteningly, this kind of news does not being reported in our local daily newspapers (i haven't stumbled on it yet)

wrestling freak

have u ever watched any wrestling shows? and how do you react to it?
  1. "waa..The Rock tuh!"
  2. "humph! its all lies and acting"
  3. speechless
most people i know would normally reacted by the 2nd reaction. they will say things like "its all an act" or "scripted already" or even "bukannya betul pun wrestling ni".
a few of them would be in awe when watching their favourite wrestlers "performing" inside the ring. they would watch it only when there are particular wrestlers showing their act.
as for me and some crazy bunch of people (which can be counted using ur fingers and toes), wrestling is a wonderful show. if we're allowed to do so, we would force everybody to be quiet while we're watching it. concentration is important.

while there are lots of wrestling shows in the USA, being a Malaysian, i only watch shows from two companies. the WWE (formerly known as the WWF) and TNA. why? because only these two shows are made available at Astro. :P

u see, i get lots of feedback and questions, ranging from the normal ones, "what's so good about wrestling?" to the most annoying ones, "why waste your time watching that stupid show?"
what's good about wrestling: i have the need and desire to see people brawling. i mean, i always want to see how people give punches, accepting blows, performing good grappling moves, and also hot chicks. yeah hot chicks. the T&A's kind of chick. but with attitude and wrestling skills only, please. not the type that only be there just to be there, showcasing their MAGNIFICENT assets. *sigh*

but then again, why do i watch wrestling matches? i do agree when people keep on telling me that its all pre-planned, scripted and acted accordingly. there is no use in denying the stone cold truth. they are all facts, cause stone cold says so! i love watching soap-operas. hey, watching tv-series are fun too! series like grey's anatomy, house MD, eureka, prison break and smallville. i enjoy watching those series. but unfortunately, they lack something. something that can only be found in wrestling shows. ACTIONS. i mean, REAL LIVE ACTIONS. let us take smallville for example. it is the stunt-double who acted in any dangerous scenes. tom welling? nahh..the producer wont let him to do the stunt on his own. he might get some bruises that could spoiled his face's fair complexion.

but in wrestling, hey, they fight their own matches. they acted it all by themselves. there is no stunt doubles or whatsoever. yes, the blood may be fake. but at least the chareographed moves works perfectly. thats where the pleasure of watching wrestling matches is.

yes. wrestling show does reflect the true life. its full of "kepura-puraan", acting, dirty-talk, aggresive moves, pain, glory, hatred, soap-opera-ness, back-stabbing, male-hormone dominance, emotion, faith, champions, sore losers, mid-carders, jobbers, and other qualities (the good and the bad ones) in life.

if u smellllllllllllllllllllllll........

p/s: if u can complete the catchphrase, u do watch wrestling :P

astaghfirullah

this is something stupid.
Morocco moves to drop headscarf

how often have we heard on this and that been linked to extremism? if you are sporting beard or even a goatee, then you're osama bin laden followers. if you wear serban, then you are a suicide bombers. if you're wearing headscarf, then in-the-near-future you would launch missile rockets to the zionist state.
this is stupid and ridiculous.
and for an arab government to implement that, stating that:
"Other Arab countries have made similar changes, worrying that the veil could be used as a symbol of extremism."

huh? since when does a veil symbolises religion extremism? oh yeah, i forgot. since beard and serban all been branded as the things an extremist has.
all hail the western ruling and way of life.

if stupid things like this occurs in Malaysia, rest assured that i am for one, will be against this stupid and nonsense implementation.
dont they read the Quran anymore?

signing off

i know your salary :)

let me continue from where i left in previous post.

and so it seems, that on Monday morning itself, the doctor decided to hand over the medical result to me. there were some weird readings, as my protein and albumine reading are too high compared to the parameters given. that was why the doctor decided to run more tests on the saturday.
and there i was, wearing jersey+jeans+sneakers, thinking that i'll be reporting for duty on the 16th.
after received the medical result, i decided to pass it to HR as soon as possible. then i can concentrate on doing other things, after worrying about my medical result. it was 10.30am.
then, something unexpected happened.
they asked me to go back home and change my attire, for i am to report for duty at 2pm. and i was like, OK, no prob. at least i'll get a full month of salary hehe. then at 2pm, i was briefed by my department manager. oh btw, i have been assigned to Group Remuneration department.

unknown to me, one of the HR officers went to my department's manager, and told her that I reported for duty wearing jersey and jeans, and they have to send me back home to change my attire.

and now, i am notoriously known as the "new guy who came to the office wearing jersey and jeans on his first day"
how ridiculous was it? this is how things turned out when miscommunication happens.
nobody told me that i HAVE to report for duty on monday, since the result was not out yet.
haha. shit happens.

anyway, my department, prior to me joining it, was consists of 5 women. and they are all mothers. and me? i'm the only male executive, who happens to be the youngest, and still single. luckily for me, and i am very grateful for this, is the fact that they welcomed my presence. they treat me as one of their colleagues, and altho i am qualified to be in the same category of their children, they treat me in a very professional way. and i have to call them "kakak" :) not that i'm complaining :)

being in the group remuneration, my future job-scopes varies from handling medical claims to managing compensation, benefits, and senior staffs salary :) and since i do have access to the salary system, i basically know when we get paid.

nevertheless, that the exclusivity of being an HR person.
and i am bounded to Ethics of Professionalism and Confidentiality.

hehehehe

anyway, a quick shout-outs to Soh Chai, Peet, Haha and Duwe.
WOI!! DULU BERIA-IA KATA NI LAST EVENT AKU KAT UTP. KONON AAA..TUP TAP, ORGANISE LAGI EVENT...
AHHH..LEPAS NI TAKDE ALASAN LAGI KALO AKU NAK PAKSA KORANG JOIN EVENT2 AKAN DATANG!!

small things that made BIG differences

this morning, i realised something. it was when i was taking my bath, something struck me hard.
things happen for reasons
i totally forgot that i'm the type of person who lives his life on day-to-day basis, gratefully experiencing what life has to offer. the challenges, the rewards, the hardships, sugar, spice and everything nice. i forgot that there is always a catch on something. for example, if you were involved in a car accident, the lesson learnt is to drive carefully. the same thing can be applied here.

this issue of me having blood problem, might help me to understand me better. as far as i am concerned, i am now more health-concious. i mean, i do eat a lot, but i am controlling what kind of food i'm taking. there's always a blessing in disguise.

on the possibility of me reporting for duty on the 16th instead on the 2nd october, it should be no problem now. i believe now i will have more time to focus on the ramadhan, and i would have more time to focus on moving to the new house. oh yeah, my father planned to move into our new house in the middle of ramadhan. so much things to do, and this 2 weeks break would help me lots.

yeah, bring it on!!

a little blood too much

its an amusing thing to know that your blood is the perfect and most reliable source to tell who and how you really are. to check for someone's health, all you have to do is take blood sample, do some tests, and voila, you immediately have a clearer picture on who the person is.
the cholestrol level, how much sugar in the blood, how's the kidney and liver doing, and whether do you perform safe sex or not. by testing for HIV lor.

part of petronas requirement, is that you have to pass the medical check-up. all should be in good condition. your blood pressure, your height, your weight, and those things that only your blood can tell the doctors. only 10cc of your blood is needed for the blood test.

my medical check-up result shows that i am fit. except for one strange thing. this thing has been bugging me since and its kinda annoying, knowing that petronas won't employ you unless they know the reason behind it. and up till now, the doctor's ain't telling.

"sel darah merah pecah". that was what the doctor told me the cause of strange results of my blood test. only on the part where they want to check how's my kidney's and liver's conditions. they performed two tests, and up till yesterday, the same result occured.

something's wrong with me body?

and now, i am irritated to both the clinic and the soon-to-be-employer. why? cause only when the clinic submit to the employer that i am fit, then only i can go on reporting for duty. and up till today, my medical result is still in unknown condition. then came the time period given for me to perform medical check-up and prepare everything for the new job.

imagine this,

i received a call from the hr dept, on the friday, to inform me that i've been offered a position. they asked me to come over to the office next monday. and so i abide.
on monday, i took time off from office at shah alam, all the way to kl. upon reaching there, received the offer letter and read it. to my disbelief, i was to report for duty by next week on monday. and i have to go for medical check-up as soon as possible, for the clinic would take three working days to finish the check-up.
on tuesday, i took MC just to undergone the check-ups. oh btw, in the offer letter it was stated that i am advised not to tender my resignation until i received my medical-checkup result stating that i am fit for work. wth? i will only get to know my medical result by friday's evening, and they expect me to report for duty, and yet they advise me not to tender my resignation till the result came out? luckily i am to give 24 hour notice of resignation.
anyway, being an optimistic person, i tendered my resignation on thursday.
then on friday morning, received a call from the clinic. "encik kena datang klinik. doktor suruh buat blood test sekali lagi". nasib baik jumaat tuh aku dah tak kerja. so went to the clinic, and the doctor told me that they need to take another 5cc of my blood. "sel darah merah pecah". the doctor told me that it happens all the time. since i can't have my medical results on that morning, i went directly to HR office after that, and gave the officer all documents needed minus the medical result. his response (he talked about other things too, but this is the part where i want it to be highlighted here hehe) "kalau takde result tak boleh repot for duty. i try adjust you untuk report on the 16th laa". huh? helllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. those 16 days are very precious days. for if i haven't tendered my resignation, i could learn lots on doing credit sales during my attachment program.
anyway, those are the risks i have to face for my decision to resign immediately.
and early this morning (saturday), i planned to go to the clinic to get my med result. so i called the clinic to inform them that i'm coming, and i was surprised with what they told me. "encik kena datang isnin pagi. lab nak buat blood test sekali lagi"

and so here i am, wondering what is wrong with me body?
for me to receive the news in the first place, i was afraid that something is wrong. but when the doctor assured me this thing does happen, and again being informed that something is wrong, really makes me worried, and feeling sick.

yeah, people would say, look at the bright side. at least you'll get some free time. i say, i am scared of the unknown.
the last time i checked with the doctor, the doctor told me that the blood test was haywire. it showed that my kidney and liver are producing high amount of potassium and stuffs like that.

on the bright side, gaji kerja tiga minggu dah masuk :) and i am planning not to spend it. nak simpan dalam bank. fixed deposit for one year hehe.
